The goal of my Master’s creative component is to be able to put faces to the sometimes generalized or criminalized idea of immigration in the United States through photo and audio slideshows with English subtitles. I hope to provide a well-rounded and in-depth look at how immigration can affect peoples’ lives by illustrating the immigration situations of three different families in Marshalltown, Iowa. My objective is to show that every immigration case affecting any one immigrant is like a fingerprint: They are all very different and have their own set of results or consequences. I also hope that after viewing, people will be moved and realize that action needs to be taken with regards to the immigration system.
